Sick-day cover

Ask once. Only the right people hear it.

Keep your own substitute list with the days, grades and subjects each person will take. When a teacher is out, the request goes only to the people who fit, the first yes takes it, and the office can see who has answered.

Hi Margaret,

Thursday, October 8

Time: 8:00 AM–3:00 PM

Class: Grade 7 math

Covering for: Ms. Diaz

Where: Middle School, Room 12

Once they accept: how to get in, the teacher's lesson plan, and any allergy or medical flags on file.

Your list, your rules

Each person has the days they can come, a grade range, and the subjects they will not take. Seasonal people get date ranges, and anyone can be switched off without being lost.

Nobody is left wondering

If nobody has said yes, whoever filed the request is told, and can ask the people who were left out for their usual week. When someone does say yes, they are told that too.

A no stays a no

Asking everyone else never reaches someone who will not take that subject, or someone switched off.

Try it at our invented school: file a request, see who it reaches and who it does not, and see what a substitute is sent.

Try it yourself

An invented school and invented people, to show the shape of it. Requests reach substitutes by email today. Basin does not send text messages yet.
