Terms of Service
Effective date: July 1, 2026
1. Acceptance
By using Basin, your school and its staff agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Who Can Use Basin
Basin is provided to independent schools for use by their staff, and by extension, the families of their enrolled students. School staff accounts are provisioned by the school.
3. Pilot Engagements
Basin is often provided as a free, time-limited pilot before any paid agreement. A pilot does not obligate a school to continue using Basin, and Basin does not obligate itself to continue a pilot beyond its stated term.
4. The School's Responsibilities
The school is responsible for the accuracy of roster, contact, and communication content it provides or sends through Basin, and for complying with FERPA and any other law applicable to its own records and communications.
5. Acceptable Use
Basin may not be used to send harassing, abusive, or unlawful messages. Communications sent through Basin may be retained as auditable school records.
6. AI Features
Basin uses AI to assist with drafting communications and answering roster questions. AI output is informational and may not always be accurate — school staff should review AI-drafted content before sending it to families.
7. Intellectual Property
Basin and its underlying software are owned by Brian McDaniel. The school retains ownership of its own data (roster, messages, records) entered into Basin.
8. Paid Terms
Following any pilot period, continued use is governed by a separate pricing agreement between the school and Basin. Pricing may change with 30 days' notice to the school.
9. Termination
Either party may end the engagement at any time. Upon termination, the school's data is deleted per our Privacy Policy unless the school requests otherwise in writing.
10. Disclaimers
Basin is provided "as is." We make no guarantees about uptime, accuracy, or completeness, and are not responsible for decisions made based on information in the app.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Basin's liability for any claim related to these terms is limited to the amount the school has paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
